CP Blog: Method in the Madness?

Oh the woes of Flames fans these days. On the heels of the end of the most ridiculous of winless streaks Flames GM Darryl Sutter turn the universe of the Calgary Flames upside down, stuck some C4 on it and fired a rocket into the coreĀ jettisoning Dion Phaneuf, Olli Jokinen, Brandon Prust, Fredrik Sjostrom and Keith Aulie to the respective centres of the North American hockey universe. In return he received a mish mash of players that a lot of fans are still trying to comprehend.

This is where things have gotten so fuzzy for the best of us.

CP Blog: What’s Next?

I can’t see Sutter making all these moves only to go after a UFA from Atlanta. Can’t see it. Nor can I see two trades in two days resulting in 17 healthy and non healthy forwards in Calgary at the same time (including Backlund) making any sense.

Flames Opt to Keep 2009 1st Rd Pick

The Calgary Flames sent out a press release today that listed among other things, the club’s decision to keep the 2009 1st round pick traded to Phoenix in the Olli Jokinen deal.

Instead the team will now be forced to part with their 2010 first round pick.
