A Look At Feaster’s Flames

September 3rd, 2011 | Posted in Commentary | By: D'Arcy McGrath

After careful consideration of I have one part of the Flames roster completely figuered out; Miikka Kiprusoff will be the starting goaltender, and Henrik Karlsson will back him up. Put it down in ink!

Well that is unless Leland Irving really continues his development and makes a serious push this fall …. nevermind.

A careful look at the roster inherited by Jay Feaster officially (finally) early this off-season suggested the 2011-12 season was one of slowing the boat heading towards an iceberg rather than actually changing course all in one hard yank to the port.

NHL, Violence and Sports Entertainment

June 11th, 2011 | Posted in Commentary | By: D'Arcy McGrath

The world of media is notorious for getting stuck on one track, and refusing to budge off of it.

A writer, often one that doesn’t follow the subject at hand all that closely will scribe an opinion piece that garners attention, and suddenly journalists will fall all over themselves to rewrite the same opinion over and over and over again to the point that it no longer makes sense. – Full Article –

It wasn’t very difficult to scream “blow it up!” on that night, and I’m guessing many Calgary fans did just that.

December 28th, 2010 | Posted in Commentary | By: D'Arcy McGrath

The death watch is complete; Darryl Sutter has stepped down as General Manager of the Calgary Flames ending a long and somewhat painful march towards the inevitable.

In his tenure he went from coach to both roles to the GM chair solely, and transformed the Flames franchise from laughing stock to surprise Cinderella, to contender, and then finally a club that just couldn’t put it together on the ice and be the sum of it’s parts.

Jay Feaster the teams assistant GM was named acting GM in the process.
