The Flames were great in the first, but weren’t rewarded.

They were even better in the first half of the second, and were rewarded with two goals and a bit of a bulge.

And then the roof fell in.

The Bruins dominated the last half of the game, erased a 3-1 deficit, and missed winning the game in regulation only due to the goaltending of Dustin Wolf before winning the game in overtime 4-3.

Tough loss for the Flames who hit a post early in the third which would have put them up 4-1.

Next up on the homestand, we see the Ottawa Senators on Thursday night.

The work boots were back.

The Flames seemed to finally look dispirited in the third period of the Tampa game; the first time this season I felt the team kind of mailed it in.

Tonight though they were back to that trench warfare game plan and gave the Florida Panthers fits in a 3-0 win over the Florida Panthers, that was a lot closer than the three goal margin would suggest.

Dustin Wolf was the difference in the first half of the game or the game could have easily gone down a different path.

The Lightning came in playing pretty good hockey.

To be a hockey club like that you need to be firing on all cylinders. The Flames were not.

Outplayed badly in the second period, the Flames scored two late middle frame goals making the score 4-3 heading into the third with a chance.

Instead they give up a quick goal, and then get routed by a 8-3 score on home ice; ending a seven game home point streak.

Burn the tape on that one.

Ugly for the last 40 minutes.

What a showing from the Flames tonight.

They erase three leads, score four for the first time in 26 and snap a miserable road stretch with a 4-3 win over the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night.

The Flames were paced by their fourth line with two goals, and a gutsy goaltending performance by Dan Vladar.

The Flames return home to host the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday night.

The Flames were a plucky group tonight, don’t let the score fool you.

But in the end they didn’t have the finish to beat Oettinger, nor the goaltending to match the Dallas side in a lopsided 6-2 loss in Dallas on Sunday night.

The lost moves the Flames to 1-4-2 in their last seven games.

Is this a slide? Or do the Flames find that gear and go on a run again?

They continue to struggle on the road.
