Bubble teams lost to crap teams all the time.

Heck good teams lose to bad teams all the time.

The Flames though, have lost all three games to the Chicago Blackhawks this season. In a freaky season where every game is a one goal game, and they can’t win in overtime, you’d better beat the league doormats.

They haven’t.

Tonight they fight back from down 2-1 after one with a solid second period, but then completely come out flat in the third.

Cost them the game.

Could cost them the season.

Game Takes: Flames 5 Ducks 4

That’s quite the weekend!

Back to back come from behind 5-4 victories in a season where they hadn’t come back once is something else.

Tonight they had a pulled goalie, deficits of 2-0 and 4-3 and a boatload of help from the bottom half of the roster as Nick Ritchie, Milan Lucic, Michael Stone and Nikita Zadorov all scored key goals.

The win keeps pace with the Jets, as they whipped the Devils in Winnipeg tonight keeping the dream alive.

Next up the Hawks on Tuesday night.

Five more games to go … still only two points back.

Man a lot of shocking things went down in Vancouver on Friday night.

The Flames won in overtime, that’s pretty rare as they beat the Canucks 5-4 in a crucial, must win game. But they also managed their first come from behind (trailing after two periods) victory on the season.

Jacob Markstrom gave up four goals on 12 shots through two periods before shutting the door and playing a huge role in the victory.

Tyler Toffoli was the man in overtime and scored two on the night as he continued his career season.

And Mikael Backlund, likely the team’s best player this season, bounced back from a brutal first period turnover leading to the Canuck’s first goal, and another over pinch in the second to set up two late goals including the game winner.

The Jets win, but the Flames hold serve.

Another game where the Flames create a lot of shot volume, but get got leaning offensively and bleed offensive odd man rushes against, ultimately ending in defeat.

The effort was there, they threw the kitchen sink at the Knights in the third period.

But the damage was done in a 3-2 loss on Thursday night.

With a rough out of town scoreboard things are looking close to terminal.
